About Us
Suffolk Made is an eclectic and inspiring collection of contemporary and traditional hand made pieces by skilled artisans. Makers featured by Suffolk Made live or make their products in Suffolk and other rural locations, and each has been personally selected to appear on this site.
Due to the inherant nature of manufacturing by hand, the images on the site may not be an exact representation of the final products you receive. Each maker prides themselves on the high quality design and finish of their work and we are sure you will be delighted with your purchases.
As our products are individually made the making time may differ, we will therefore advise our customers when each of their purchase/s has been dispatched.
N.B. Please note that maximum delivery time are included in the product details.
Suffolk Made is always happy to consider adapting their products to suit individual requirements. It could be possible to add personal detailing as all our products are made by hand and to order.

A little bit about me:
Claire Staddon, founder of Suffolk Made.

I am deeply immersed in the strong traditions of craft making, I trained as a ceramicist and it was whilst running a ceramics enterprise over 10 years ago, that I met my woodcarving husband Tom. On starting a family, I moved into the business world so that I could juggle my commitment to family life with earning a regular income. Moving into the corporate arena was a huge culture shock, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, working on a range of areas within a utilities company including corporate debt consolidations, complaints and moving into brand management, facilitation and change management. Being made redundant from there, I moved into the Third sector working for a regional charity supporting all projects to enable best service, management and contract delivery.
Having been a maker, and now an avid supporter and buyer of hand made products and being married to a maker I recognised two important things.
1.It's not easy finding high quality hand made products unless you make visiting Craft markets into a lifestyle hobby.
2. As a maker its hard to reach a wide audience as everyone has such busy lives, and craftsmen are notoriously not I.T. savvy!
So grabbing my business experience and enthusiasm to make it happen I came up with this plan to promote makers through a website. Living in Suffolk, I am in touch with many of the craft makers based within the county’s borders. The passion which I devoted to my work as a ceramicist is now channelled into bringing the talent which nestles within Suffolk, to a wider and appreciative audience. It is my aim to bring to Suffolk Made customers the deep joy that can come from using well made, functional, stylish, individually designed products.
My direct family are very mainstream, with a doctor as a father and a stay at home mum. However, my fathers family history is littered with spinster women who bucked the trend and ran their own business all the way back to politically active suffragets. So although I had no direct influence, I think I was born with the spirit to get on and do it my way.
I hope you like what we have on offer, lets make this the beginning of something great. Cheers, Claire.
